Gerard Doornbos is the vice chairman of the IFDC Board of Directors and has been a board member since 2005. He is the vice chair of the board’s Executive Committee and member of the Africa, Audit and Nomination committees.
Doornbos served as president of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) from 1998 to 2002. IFAP is a global network of farmer organizations representing over 600 million farm families from 120 national organizations in 79 countries.
Doornbos has held various regional and national executive posts in organized agriculture, education and water management in the Netherlands. He is president of the Rijnland District Water Control Board and chairs the board of the Waterboardbank Development Fund. He also chairs the Committee for International Affairs of the National Union of Waterboards. He previously served as the president of LTO Nederland (a federation of agricultural and horticultural organizations) and Agri-ProFocus - Development Cooperation Network. Doornbos is also a member of the board of the National Water Partnership and Aqua for All. He serves on the Steering Committee for the Netherlands National Delta Program and the Executive Committee for the European Federation of National Associations of Water and Wastewater Services.
