Timothy Karera, director of the Training and Workshop Coordination Unit, has more than 20 years of international training experience. He has completed short- and long-term assignments in 25 countries on three continents. He is well-versed in training of trainers, adult education, training administration, human resource development and management, program management, proposal development, strategic planning and finance management. Before joining IFDC in 2009, Karera was a rural development and finance specialist for USAID/Rwanda. Prior to that, he worked as secretary-general of the Rwanda Development Bank. Karera worked in several capacities for Inades-Formation International in Cotê d’Ivoire and Rwanda. He holds a master’s degree in business administration/finance from the Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands. He earned an engineer in agronomy degree from the National University of Rwanda and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and social sciences from the University of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
