Farmers’ access to mineral fertilizer in Nigeria is limited. In fact, fertilizers are much more difficult to purchase than a bottle of Coca-Cola or a cell phone recharge card, which can be purchased in most rural villages in Nigeria. Many smallholder farmers in the country now have access to subsidized fertilizer for the first time in 10 years, thanks to voucher programs implemented by IFDC.
