IFDC-Africa
is co-coordinating activities related to the theme
"Combating Nutrient Depletion" under the
Soil, Water and Nutrient Management (SWNM), an
ecoregional initiative launched by the Consultative
Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
IFDC-Africa participates in two other ecoregional
initiatives of the CGIAR: the Ecoregional Program for
the Humid and Subhumid Tropics of Sub-Saharan Africa (EPHTA),
with the International Institute of Tropical
Agriculture (IITA) as Convening Center and the Desert
Margins Program (DMP), with the International Crops
Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT)
as Convening Center. IFDC-Africa is a member of the
group of international facilitators of the World
Bank-led Soil Fertility Initiative (SFI).
The
Japanese International Research Centre for
Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) has chosen IFDC-Africa
as a partner for extending its activities in the areas
of soil fertility improvement and desertification
control in West Africa
