Reasons to be Optimistic About African Agriculture in 2012

December 22, 2011 – Despite the 2011 famine in the Horn of Africa and the possible looming food crisis in the Sahel, Agriculture for Impact has found several signs that food security in Africa may improve in 2012.

Factors include an increase in agricultural investments by African governments, the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) and increased innovation by African researchers.

The blog states that "the potential poverty-reducing impact of agriculture-related growth is three times larger than growth originating from other sectors of the economy."
