Introduction

The objective of human resource development programs at IFDC is to improve the operation and cost effectiveness of fertilizer supply and marketing systems and, enhance fertilizer use and use efficiency by improving research and extension capabilities.

Training programs are directed mainly toward developing the skill of managers, professionals, and those whose positions require knowledge of the fertilizer industry. IFDC conducts general workshops, study tours, training, and specialized training. Programs of regional interest are conducted in locations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. General training programs vary in duration from 1 week to 2 weeks.

Specialized training programs are developed to meet the unique needs of individuals and groups. Individual training is usually conducted at IFDC Headquarters but also often involves agricultural and industrial organizations in the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Specialized programs for groups of participants are based on requests from individuals, organizations, and governments.
