Development
and Dissemination of Sustainable Integrated Soil
Fertility Management Practices for Smallholder
Farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa
The
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
finances this project. The overall objective is to
increase farmers’ income through the development
and dissemination of Integrated Soil Fertility
Management (ISFM) strategies. It aims specifically
at (1) fine-tuning and dissemination of ISFM-technology
packages elaborated and tested in the IFAD 1
project, (2) action research for the extension of
the ‘menu’ of available ISFM strategies, (3)
participatory identification of bottlenecks for ISFM
strategies for facilitating dissemination and
adoption and (4) capacity building of national
agricultural research and extension systems (NARES),
NGOs and IFAD rural development projects.
