Under this project of the Togolese government, IFDC-Africa has installed demonstration plots in 60 villages in southern Togo. The objective is to trigger more sustainable production through integrated soil fertility management. The use of a cover crop, phosphate rock and management of crop residues is combined with the use of fertilizers. This activity is carried out in close cooperation with the "Institut Togolais de Recherche Agronomique" (ITRA). The technology packages include maize-mucuna-mineral fertilizer + PR and maize-mucuna-manioc-mineral fertilizer + PR, based on biophysical on-farm research and socioeconomic and institutional context.
