Decision Support System :
Feasibility of Legume Use
The
Africa Division of IFDC is pleased to present a Decision Support
System on the Feasibility of Legume Use (DSS-FLU) that is being
developed. Legumes are
often recommended to improve agricultural production systems.
However, according to the author, they do not represent a
panacea for African agriculture.
Actually,
farmers and decision makers of the public and private sectors are
confronted with a great challenge: making more and more
sophisticated choices, in a more and more complex environment. Such
multiple implication-based decisions, call for the capacity to
analyze, articulate and prioritize the massive amount of information
available in order to achieve efficiency. Decision support systems can help assess constraints
and opportunities to make judicious decisions and take efficient
initiatives in the area of agricultural and rural development.
We
invite researchers and other professionals interested in the issue
to test the DSS-FLU in their specific context, contribute to its
improvement, and send their ideas and comments to:

IFDC
is developing decision support systems on other issues related to
integrated soil fertility management, including the DSS-FFU on the
economic feasibility of fertilizer use and the DSS-PR on the
feasibility of phosphate use.
