IFDC-Albania’s
Chief of Party, Claude Freeman
Receives Golden Award from Government of Albania
Tirana, Albania—The
Chief of Party for IFDC-Albania, Claude C. Freeman, III, has
received the Golden Award from the President of the Republic of
Albania, the Honorable Rexhep Mejdani. In presenting the award today
at 11:00 a.m., at the Palace of Congress, President Mejdani noted
this was the first time the Golden Award has been presented for
"long-term and special contribution toward the development of
the agricultural private sector, the agroprocessing industry, the
private extension service, the organization of agribusiness
associations, and advocacy issues related to Albanian
agribusiness."
The award was
presented to Freeman during the National Meeting of the Albanian
Agribusiness Council (KASH), which included all KASH Board members
of 16 agribusiness associations. The Golden Award is reserved for
"special civil merits for foreigners in the Republic of
Albania." KASH, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in
Albania, proposed that Freeman receive this award. Also in
attendance for the award ceremony was the U.S. Ambassador to
Albania, the Honorable Joseph Limprecht.
In accepting the
award, Freeman credited the Albanian people themselves as the real
recipients of the honor for their tireless efforts in the
agricultural development of their country. "Without the genuine
spirit of cooperation of our Albanian counterparts, IFDC could not
have realized the successes that we have in developing a favorable
climate for agricultural entrepreneurs in this country. Our sincere
thanks go to the policymakers, entrepreneurs, and others who paved
the way for the accomplishment of our goals."
