Charles (Corky) Snipes

Director, Operations Division

Mr. Snipes is the director of IFDC’s Operations Division. Prior to coming to IFDC, Snipes managed the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Resource Management business with annual revenues of more than $80 million. He managed projects for the U.S. Department of Defense, including directing on-the-ground operations of several large remediation projects in the former Soviet states (including Uzbekistan). Snipes has 35 years of experience in various management and engineering positions, including extensive experience in the operation, maintenance and decommissioning of large-scale chemical production facilities. Previously, he was manager of operations at TVA’s fertilizer production facility and worked with many international visitors in activities related to fertilizer production and use. Certified by the U.S. Department of Labor as a master instructor for OSHA-required training, Snipes trained more than 2,000 people in hazardous materials courses. His experience includes directing projects; preparing and managing budgets; developing new organizations (setting policies and standards) and leading organizations through changing business environments; supervising others (interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, reviewing work, counseling, instructing, initiating and carrying out training, taking disciplinary actions and rewarding outstanding performers); and communicating both up and down the management chain. Snipes earned a master’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, United States, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Mississippi State University, Starkville, United States.
